Anatomy of Almost Nothing
(Excerpts)

PRESENCE
Not quite weariness.
Something slower.
A continuous presence
in the body.
Nothing hurts.
Everything weighs.
We still get up.
We speak. We answer.
But everything
asks a little more
than before.
Fatigue
interrupts nothing.
It accompanies.
(…)
SLEEPING WITHOUT SLEEP
The body in position.
Closed eyes
are not enough.
Sleep
passes by
without stopping.
Something remains alert.
Night
does its work around us.
By morning
we are no heavier.
No lighter.
(…)
WHAT IS REFLECTED
The mirror lies
slowly.
It returns
the image of another.
Crow’s-feet,
settled wrinkles.
Heavier eyes
still hold.
The rest
has adjusted
in another way.
