Consciousness
(Excerpts)

the seasons
followed one another
lives
were lived
houses
gave warmth
nothing was missing
nothing was asking
the world
repeated itself
in simple gestures
laughter
came
unexpectedly
the days
were worth
living
we did not know
a little hand
in mine
the world
took on
a different meaning
the gazes
no longer met
they passed
without seeing each other
like trains
by night
the walls
no longer protected
they separated
for the night still long
I did not yet know
who I was without us
